EARTH’S RESOURCES

 

  1. fresh water— water that is not salty

     

  2. salt water— water that has salt in it

     

  3. ocean— A large, deep body of salt water that covers almost three fourths of the earth's surface.

     

  4. lake— A body of still water with land all around it.

     

  5. river— A natural watercourse, usually freshwater, flowing towards an ocean, a lake, a sea, or another river.

     

  6. pond— A body of standing water, either natural or man-made, that is usually smaller than a lake.

     

  7. glacier— a large body of ice moving slowly down a slope or over a wide area of land

     

  8. stream— A body of moving water smaller than a river

     

  9. surface water— water that is found above ground

     

  10. ground water— water that comes from under ground
  11. dam--a barrier that impounds water or underground stream
